Imagine a man who spends his days navigating Uganda’s dusty, winding roads, delivering goods across the country. Now, imagine that same man delivering something far more precious: hope, love, and a lifeline to those who need it most. Meet Francis Kigozi—a truck driver by profession, but a hero by heart.
Francis isn’t a doctor. He doesn’t wear a white coat or carry a stethoscope. Yet, his impact on the patients of Lacor Hospital is nothing short of miraculous. Four years ago, while driving the great north route, Francis saw firsthand the struggles of patients and their families. What he witnessed didn’t just stay with him—it moved him to act.
With no fanfare or grand gestures, Francis made a quiet promise: to give what he could, no matter how small. Sugar, soap, milk, jackets—these simple items became his compassion tools. Month after month, he’s kept his word, showing up at the hospital with a heart full of love and hands full of gifts.
This month is no different. Francis arrived with 50 kgs of sugar and boxes of soap. He walked through Surgery One, the burns unit, and the trauma ward, handing each patient a kilo of sugar and a bar of soap. But he gave them something even more valuable: the feeling that they mattered.
Oloya Nelson, a paraplegic patient who has been in the hospital for a year, couldn’t hold back his tears of gratitude. “God bless you, my son,” he said. “May the Almighty continue to bless and replenish your pockets. Every month you visit, we feel your love. Thank you.”
Francis’s acts of kindness are like ripples in a pond—small at first but spreading far and wide. He doesn’t just lessen the financial burden; he restores hope and reminds patients that they’re not alone.
As Francis left the hospital that day, he carried no cargo in his truck, but his heart was full. And the patients? They carried something , too: the warmth of his love and the promise that he’d be back.
Francis Kigozi may drive a truck for a living, but what he’s delivering is a lesson in humanity. In a world that often feels divided, he’s proof that kindness knows no bounds—and that heroes don’t always wear capes. Sometimes, they wear a driver’s uniform and carry bags of sugar.
Thank you, Francis, for showing us that the road to change is paved with love. Until next month, keep driving—and keep inspiring.
